S. S Rajamouli is a widely acclaimed film director and screen writer whose bulk work is concentrated in the Telugu film industry. He has directed a number of major movies that have been highly successful at the box-office. Rajamouli has received a number of awards and positive critical acclaim and appreciation for his works. He hails from Raichur, Karnataka, where he was born to the famous director and screenwriter, K.V. Vijayendra Prasad. He currently resides in Hyderabad and is an alumnus of Sir C.R.R. College, Eluru. He has two children with his wife, Rama Rajamouli.

Raghavendra Rao is the first Telugu director under whose guidance, Rajamouli started his career as director. His very initial projects included directing commercial advertising films. Rajamouli’s first delving into the direction of daily soaps happened with the serial, Shanti Nivasam, for which, Rao turned producer. The show was aired on Eenadu Television and gained quite a lot of popularity. In 2001, Rajamouli released his first Telugu movie Student No.1. The film marked Rajamouli’s debut as director and garnered a lot of praise from the critics as well as the audience.
A lot of the movies made by Rajamouli have been remade in various other languages. This was the movie that helped Rajamouli bag the Filmfare Award for Best Director- Telugu and also the Nandi Award for Best Director. The film also has to its name, the National Film Award for Best Choreography. Magadheers established Rajamouli as one of the finest film directors that Indian cinema has seen so far.
Rajamouli also experimented with VFX effects in his film, Eega and Makkhi, both of which have been praised by the audience as well as critics. Eega too got Rajamouli the Filmfare Award for Best Director- Telugu. Rajamouli also has to his name the CineMAA Award for Best Director for his film Magadheera. The latest movie that Rajamouli has directed is Bahubali, which has emerged to be the highest grossing movie of Indian cinema so far. Made in two parts, the movie has been made in Telugu and Tamil and dubbed in Malayalam and Hindi, for a wider audience base.
